Wedding Details

Hi, folks.  We’re really looking forward to seeing you at our wedding.  As we said in our wedding announcement, we have planned an entire weekend of fun activites so we can spend as much time as possible with our family and friends. If you’re visiting from out of town, we hope this information helps you plan a great visit.  If you’re local, you’ll still get a lot of information from this web page.

- Todd and Beth

Schedule

Friday August 30: Dinner with Out-of-town Guests

We’re having an informal gathering of family and friends at the Olive Garden restaurant in Westminster, near the Westminster Mall.  If you are arriving early enough on Friday, we’d love for you to join us.  Let’s plan to meet there at 6:00.  Or, if you prefer, meet at our house at 5:30 and we’ll carpool over there.

The Olive Garden is located here:

5551 W 88 Avenue WESTMINSTER, CO 303-650-0889

Here’s a map.  If you plan to join us for dinner, please RSVP to Todd by August 23 so he can reserve the right size room and table for everyone. If you don’t RSVP, you’ll be eating on the floor!  Also, this event is “Dutch treat” - hey, we’re buying dinner Sunday!

To get to Beth’s house from Towne Place Suites:

Turn left out of the hotel parking lot, left on Flatiron Blvd., left on Interlocken Blvd., and right on Flatiron Circle. Stay in the two right-hand lanes and take the exit for U.S. 36 East to Denver. When the lanes merge, stay in that lane, which exits at Broomfield/Jefferson County Airport. Turn left onto Highway 287. You’ll go past Target and a ratty-looking hotel on the right. You’ll come to a new strip mall on the right with a King Soopers. Turn left on Miramonte. Go two blocks and turn left on Lilac. Go two more blocks and turn right on 12th Avenue Place. Our house is at the back and is white with green trim.

Saturday August 31: Picnic in Rocky Mountain National Park

We’re not having a traditional rehearsal dinner for our wedding.  Instead, we want to get guests, family members, and the wedding party together for a picnic.  Everyone can spend the afternoon exploring the park.  Then, whenever you’re hungry, come by our base camp.

Ernie and Betty Bradley are hosting the picnic (thanks, Mom and Dad!). Food will be served from around 5:30 to 7:30, so you can come and go if you want to do some hiking, sightseeing, elk watching, fishing, or whatever.

Beth and Todd will set things up at the Sprague Lake picnic area as soon as we get there around 3:00 or 4:00.  Since there are no reserved spots, we’ll just commandeer whatever we can and then start taking over adjoining picnic tables as they free up.

If you’re able, try to bring a folding chair, since seating space may be limited, depending on how many tables we can get.  Also, note that the picnic ground is at about 8500 feet altitude, where it starts getting chilly in the evenings by late August.  So come dressed for a warm afternoon and a cool evening.  Also, there’s no alternate venue in the event of rain, and they do get afternoon showers pretty regularly up there, so be prepared!

Here’s the official map of Rocky Mountain National Park.  You don’t need to print it out, because you’ll get a printed copy when you pay your $15 admission fee at the park entrance.  It takes about 1 hr 45 minutes to get to Sprague Lake from Broomfield.

To get to Rocky Mountain National Park from Broomfield:

Turn left out of the hotel parking lot, left on Flatiron Blvd., left on Interlocken Blvd., and left on Flatiron Circle. Drive a block or two and turn right on Flatiron Circle (yes, you turn from Flatiron Circle onto Flatiron Circle. It is more or less a circle). Follow that road around the mall, under a bridge, and onto U.S. 36 West. You’ll go past Louisville/Superior, down a big hill, and into Boulder, where U.S. 36 turns into 28th Street. Follow 28th Street north through Boulder and out, where it turns back into U.S. 36.

You’ll take 36 along the foothills to Lyons, where it meets up with Highway 34. Turn left and drive through Lyons. You’ll go through town and come to a T intersection. Turn right (you’re still on U.S. 36).

When you get to Estes Park, if you don’t need to stop at the McDonald’s or whatever, take the bypass so that you don’t have to go through downtown (I believe you’ll go straight instead of left). Either way will take you to the Fall River Visitors Center, where you’ll pay $15 per car and get a map. (The Beaver Meadows Visitors Center is a better way to enter, but I’ve never gone into the park that way. If you can figure it out, go for it.) Get out at the visitors center and ask park rangers where the wildlife is that day.

When you get to the park, if you want to come check in with us, you go south past Moraine Park and Glacier Basin to Sprague Lake (or you can try your cell phone. There is coverage in some parts of the park). If you’d rather go find elk and other wildlife, you can drive up to the Alpine Visitors Center. It’s a long, slow drive, especially on Labor Day Weekend, but there are lots of places to stop and great views. It will probably take an hour each way. If you want to go up one way and down another, take Old Fall River Road (a dirt/gravel road) up and Trail Ridge Road down. Then come see us and have some food!

Sunday September 1: The Big Day

If you’re not in the wedding party or helping us with decorations, etc. then we’d recommend spending the afternoon hiking in the Boulder mountain parks system or shopping on Pearl Street.  The rest of us will be madly running around making flower arrangements and getting our hair done at the last minute.

Here is the official schedule for the wedding events.

4:30 PM sharp Pearl Street Photos - wedding party should meet in front of the Boulder Theater 6:00 PM Boulder Theater Ceremony begins 6:30 PM Boulder Theater Hors d’ouvres and drinks 7:00 PM Boulder Theater Dinner buffet begins, then dancing

Here is the address, again, just in case you forgot.

Boulder Theater 2032 14th Street Boulder, Colorado 303-786-7030

To get to the Boulder Theater from the Boulderado Hotel:

Go out of the 13th Street exit and turn left.  Walk down Spruce for about one block.

To get to the Boulder Theater from Towne Place Suites:

Turn left out of the hotel parking lot, left on Flatiron Blvd., left on Interlocken Blvd., and left on Flatiron Circle. Drive a block or two and turn right on Flatiron Circle (yes, you turn from Flatiron Circle onto Flatiron Circle. It is more or less a circle).  Follow that road around the mall, under a bridge, and onto U.S. 36 West to Boulder. You’ll go past Louisville/Superior, down a big hill, and into Boulder, where U.S. 36 turns into 28th Street. Take 28th to Pearl, where you turn left. At 16th and Pearl, there is a parking garage on your left, which should be free on Sunday. You can park there and walk up the mall to 14th Street, where you will turn right and walk one block to get to the Boulder Theater. Or you can take Pearl to 15th, where you can only turn right.  Make sure you are in the left-hand lane. Make the turn and then take an immediate left into another parking garage (the entrance is obscured by a tree) that is immediately behind the Boulder Theater. It’s near a store called Waterhouse. It also should be free on Sunday. Or you can try to park along Spruce or on 14th Street.

And here’s a map.

Monday September 2: The Day After

Beth and Todd are staying Sunday night at the Hotel Boulderado.  But once we get home on Monday, we’d love to make a late brunch for anyone who doesn’t have to leave town right away.  So please come over and spend some time with us.  We intentionally planned to spend an extra day in town before leaving on the honeymoon just so we could visit with everyone.

Let’s plan to eat around noon.  If you want to help us cook, I’m sure we could use the help!  We’ll have omelets, pancakes, waffles, etc.

Then we can spend the afternoon having some relaxing fun together - hanging out around the house, going to a movie, visiting the Butterfly Pavilion, or whatever people want to do.
