Our Wedding
Everything you could hope to know about our wedding, and then some…
This page is all about the upcoming wedding between Todd Bradley and Beth Partin. If you know anything about us - and hopefully you do if you’re attending our wedding - it won’t surprise you that we’re having a fairly non-traditional wedding. When we decided to get married, we both agreed that above all else we want our wedding to be fun for both us and our guests.
Because so many of our guests are from out of town, we have planned an entire weekend of activities. We feel it’s very important to make this a time to share with our family and friends, so we invite you to join us for as many of the events around the wedding as you can.
In addition to this page, which is a lot of the background about the wedding, we put together another web page of all the little details and the schedule and directions.
Background
How We Met
We met in January 1992 at the Boulder Theater, through a pair of mutual friends. The occasion was a concert by a band called The Jonez.
When We Got Engaged
August 26, 2001 - We hiked up to Beth’s favorite waterfall (Alberta Falls) in Rocky Mountain National Park, on our way home from a weekend camping trip. While sitting on some rocks near the roaring falls, Todd popped the question. Beth said “yes” and Todd was so surprised that he fell into the waterfall, nearly drowning. Luckily, Beth used her super powers to dive in and rescue him.
Wedding and Ceremony
About the Wedding
The ceremony and reception are both at the Boulder Theater in downtown Boulder, Colorado. We thought it would be appropriate to get married the same place we met, so we’ve rented out the entire theater.
The Wedding Party
Bridesmaids
Groomsmen (notice how Todd was careful to choose only groomsmen with 4 letter first names?)
Mary Hollis - Honor Attendant Kent Bradley Sybil Baker Matt Bradley Dorothy Partin Mike Roadifer Catherine Carilli Chad Johnson
The Ceremony
The wedding ceremony will be officiated (sounds like a boxing match doesn’t it?) by Rev. Gail Boex.
The Rings
Our rings are special. They were custom made by a very modern jewelry designer in Belgium who makes fairly industrial style stuff. They’re made from titanium and silver, with our names engraved in Morse code. Babs at Noelle & Co in Cherry Creek is the only jeweler in the US who carries this designer and we’re the only couple who have bought them. So it’s safe to say we’re the only ones in America with rings like this. Here’s a photo, if you’d like to see them.
The Reception
Immediately after the ceremony, we’ll have hors d’ouevres of the following:
- black bean and feta empanadas
- peppered beef satay
- poached pear and gorgonzola canapes
- gyoza dumplings
- made-to-order sushi (thanks to the lovely and talented Erika Arentzen)
The full bar at the Boulder Theater, plus something very special - locally brewed mead from Redstone Meadery in Boulder.
Dinner will start around 7:00 and consist of a buffet of:
- grilled marinated vegetables
- penne pasta with vegetarian marinara sauce
- woodland pasta with optional grilled chicken
- baby spinach salad
- new rosemary potatoes
- garden salad
- assorted breads
But the most exciting part is the carved bison tenderloin and made-to-order sushi and sashimi!
And then the traditional cake (we’re having three cakes, including one sugar free), toasts, drinking, and dancing. Music will be an unusually eclectic mix, played by one of the finest DJs in the Denver area. Expect to hear everything from Vivaldi to Van Morrison to Frank Sinatra to Frank Zappa before the night’s over.
Gift Registry
If you’d like to give a gift, we’re registered at two places.
Bed, Bath & Beyond: a bunch of really cool kitchen stuff
Foley’s: dishes
The Honeymoon
Curious what we’re doing for a honeymoon? Well, we have a two week trip to Hawaii planned, where we will visit Oahu, Kauai, and the Big Island. We’re staying mainly in B-and-B’s and are intentionally staying away from the tourist resorts as much as possible.
