Thanksgiving 2004
The week of Thanksgiving 2004, the Bradley family is all going to Mexico! This page is all about that trip.

We’re renting the Casa Playa del Caribe house. We should be able to walk right out the back door and go swimming in the South Akumal Bay.
Beth and I are taking this opportunity to spur us to finally learn how to scuba dive. We’re going to take a class from Flatirons Scuba the weekend of 10/16 and 10/17. After taking the basic course at Front Range Community College, we will be ready to do what’s called an “open water referral.” That means that our instructor in Colorado will write a letter of referral that we take with us to Mexico. There, we will complete our training with 4 open water dives over 2 days, and get our PADI open water certification. We’ll do that through the Akumal Dive Shop.
We may dine here one night, at La Buena Vida.
Saturday November 20 - fly to Cancun on United 1098, rent a car from Executive, drive to our beach house called Casa Playa del Caribe in South Akumal
Sunday November 21 - 9:00 AM open water diving lessons
Monday November 22 - tour Tulum ruins, snorkel in Akumal Bay, relax
Tuesday November 23 - more open water diving lessons, hopefully culminating in PADI Open Water Diver certification
Wednesday November 24 - relax on the beach?
Thursday November 25 - Thanksgiving, maybe go diving and then have a Mayan feast
Friday November 26 - more diving or snorkeling
Saturday November 27 - pack our bags, drive back to Cancun, and fly home on United 1099
Does our medical insurance cover us in Mexico? Yes, for physician visit, urgent care facility, or emergency room - but NOT for recompression chamber. That’s why we became members of DAN, the Divers’ Action Network.
What would we do in case of other medical injury down there? Pay for it out of pocket, get receipt, and submit a claim later.
