Macron and Burr

Reading the New York Times this morning, I saw a quote from French President Macron about US President Trump.

It reminded me of a line from Broadway musical Hamilton. I have no idea if Aaron Burr really said this - probably not - but the sentiment is parallel.

Emmanuel Macron 2026: “When we’re serious, we don’t say the opposite of what we said the day before every day, and maybe one shouldn’t speak every day.”

Aaron Burr 1776 (fictional): “Let me offer you some free advice. Talk less. Smile more.”
